Supporting Carers Week 2024

Carers Week 2024 is upon us, and this year’s theme, “Putting Carers on the Map,” resonates deeply with our mission at Bridgewater Home Care. This annual campaign shines a light on the invaluable contributions of carers across the UK, ensuring they receive the recognition and support they rightfully deserve.

At Bridgewater Home Care, we are proud to support Carers Week through a series of initiatives focused on recognition, support, advocacy, and celebration. Here’s how we’re making a difference.

Recognition

Carers often operate behind the scenes, providing essential support without celebration or acknowledgment. This Carers Week, Bridgewater Home Care is committed to bringing their efforts into the spotlight.

We run a “Carer of the Month” award system, highlighting the exceptional work of one carer each month through our social media channels and website. By sharing their stories, we aim to raise awareness about the challenges they face and the remarkable resilience they demonstrate daily.

Additionally, we organise local events where carers can come together, share their experiences, and receive the appreciation they deserve from both the community and our company.

Support

Supporting carers goes beyond recognition; it involves providing tangible resources and assistance. During Carers Week, Bridgewater Home Care offered a series of well-being sessions and training sessions designed to equip carers with the skills and knowledge they need to manage their responsibilities effectively.

These sessions aim to raise important topics of conversation, ensure our team know where to go to ask for help, and reinforce our ‘open door’ policy, so that our team feel supported both personally and professionally.

We take feedback from our Care Specialists on which activities or topics they feel they would like extra support with, and ensure to cover these within our training and development programme.

We understand that caring for someone can be both physically and emotionally demanding, so we encourage our team to always come into the office and talk to a member of our office team to support and guidance.

Advocacy

Advocacy is a crucial aspect of our commitment to carers. Carers often face systemic challenges that require a collective voice to address.

Bridgewater Home Care engages with local and national organisations to advocate for better policies and resources for carers.

We are proud to work with a variety of organisations, both charities and professional bodies, that highlight the importance of social care and the impacts they have on our local communities.

By raising challenges and concerns with relevant parties, we hope to give the care industry more of a voice and be a part of positive change an reform within the sector.

Celebration

Celebrating the dedication and hard work of carers is an integral part of Carers Week. At Bridgewater Home Care, we believe in the power of community and the importance of coming together to celebrate achievements. We encourage all of the Bridgewater Family to celebrate everything!

It’s so important to ensure people feel valued for not only the work they do, but their achievements along the way, no matter how big or small. We are a family – the Bridgewater family – and support one another to celebrate the small wins that make the everyday great.

Carers Week 2024 is a time to acknowledge and support the millions of unpaid carers who make a difference every day.
