Kelly Matley did not have a background in home care before she joined the Bridgewater family as a Care Specialist in 2021.
That’s because it is not necessary to have prior experience in the health or social care sectors; we are mainly looking for a passion for making a difference in the lives of others! Many of our Bridgewater Home Care employees draw on past experiences, skills, or knowledge that they have gained from previous roles and use these to encourage, assist and support our clients to help improve their quality of life.
Kelly kindly answered some quick-fire questions to help us get to know her better and to find out what inspired her to work in care :
1. What is your favourite genre of film?
“My favourite genre of film is chick flick. I also love drama and comedy.”
2. Who is your ideal dinner party guest and why?
“My ideal dinner guest would have to be Boris Johnson, I think he would be hilarious around the table and to see if he actually knows what is going on!”
3. What is your favourite season of the year and why?
“I love spring, and the nice weather, without having to wear too much or too little! Spring is lovely to see everything bloom and green.”
4. What is one thing you would put on your bucket list?
“I would love to see the Northern Lights”
5. When you’re not working how do you like to spend your time?
“When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my three children.”
6. What is your professional background?
“I used to work with children. I have my BTEC National Diploma is Early Years Education. I used to spend my time volunteering at WASC which was so rewarding , taking care of children . I have continued to help out in the community where I can. I started up a Mums & Tots group. I have also successfully completed my Access to Midwifery degree and just recently completed an HNC in Health and Social Care.”
7.What inspired you to join the care sector?
“My recent studying inspired me to join the care sector. “
8. One other fact about you that your colleagues may not know?
“One fact my colleagues may not know about me, is that my dream is to become a midwife !”
