Statistics
Brain Tumour Research are the leading voice in the UK for communicating the trends surrounding brain tumours.
- Brain tumours kill more children and adults under the age of 40 than any other cancer.
- Just 1% of the national spend on cancer research has historically been allocated to this devastating disease. Approximately 16,000 people each year are diagnosed with a brain tumour.
- Since national cancer spend records began in 2002, £680 million has been invested in breast cancer, yet only £96 million in brain tumours – that’s a difference of £35 million a year over 17 years
- Less than 20% of those diagnosed with a brain tumour survive beyond five years compared with an average of 50% across all cancers
Unlike most other cancers, incidences of and deaths from brain tumours are rising.

More funding for research into brain tumours is urgently needed. Every single penny really does make a difference!
£5 could help to fund the day-to-day laboratory equipment scientists need to continue their ground-breaking research.
£15 could help to fund the research undertaken by a PhD student at one of their Centres of Excellence.
£25 could help to fund a Senior Research Fellow to run a Brain Tumour Research project and co-ordinate the work of PhD students.
