Bolton New Starter and Care Specialist of the Month for February 2021

Congratulations to Eleanor Lomax, a new starter at Bridgewater Home Care Bolton on being awarded Care Specialist of the month for February 2021.

The Covid-19 pandemic has forced many people to re-think their careers. Starting a new job during a pandemic is no easy task and we were delighted when Bridgewater Home Care Bolton’s new starter, Eleanor who was delighted to receive the award, agreed to share some background about herself and her journey to start a career in care.

1. Tell us about your previous work/career background?

I was a stay-at-home Mum for my 3 children. As my children became older, I worked within primary schools providing support for children with special educational needs. Due to the medical needs of a family member, I moved to a nursery, so my hours were more flexible.

2. What has inspired you to want to be involved in the adult home care sector?

I had been thinking about changing careers for a while. The experience of caring for an older family member had made me think about the adult health care sector. Then we had the Covid pandemic and things were changing at the nursery I was working at and this seemed like a good opportunity to change careers.

3. Why Bridgewater Home Care Bolton?

I contacted several home care providers but when I first contacted Bridgewater Home Care Bolton, they were friendly and honest about the job which made me feel they were the right company for me.

4. How did you get to hear about the job opportunity?

I looked on the internet at various job sites.

5. What are your career aspirations?

There are opportunities to do different roles within Bridgewater Home Care further down the line. For now, I hope to continue to provide quality care for clients in their own homes, educating myself further about the care industry by doing additional relevant training and courses and I hope to continue to enjoy my job.

6. Any special moments with clients you would like to share so far or training or goals for the future?

All clients have different needs but it’s so lovely when you walk into a client’s house and they are so pleased to see you. In this career, you can truly make a difference in a client’s day, which makes the job so satisfying.

7. What do you love most about your job and working for Bridgewater Home Care so far?

I’ve been made to feel very welcome at Bridgewater, as the staff are all friendly and helpful. I am really enjoying all aspects of the job and I feel I am maintaining a good work/family balance which is a bonus!
