On Tuesday 19th March, We had the privilege of hosting our first Dementia Information day in collaboration with Dementia UK and Dementia Harborough. This event aimed to bridge the gap in accessing support for those living with Dementia, their families and support network, by bringing together local charities, healthcare professionals and community members.
Sarah an Admiral Nurse from Dementia UK was in attendance, alongside founding member of Dementia Harborough Margret and their volunteers.
Held at the Market Harborough Congregational Church, this event offered a fantastic opportunity for the local community and healthcare professionals to discover the extensive support available for people living with Dementia, their families and support network. Our goal was to raise awareness, provide valuable resources, and foster a supportive community environment.
We received fantastic feedback from attendees, who appreciated the comprehensive information, the chance to speak to someone in person and the opportunity to connect with others facing similar challenges.

Testimonials from the day:
‘It was great to be part of this first ‘Dementia Information Day’ for the local community, we had a great turn out from members of the public and local health and social care staff wanting to find out more about dementia and local services available to support them. Some people actually traveled across the county for the event. Thank you to Bridgewater for arranging the day.’
Sarah Merrill – Admiral Nurse Dementia UK
‘We really enjoyed working alongside Alex from Bridgewater Home Care and Sarah from the Dementia UK Admiral Nurse Service, to provide information to local people looking for some assistance. We have already had several enquiries as a result and hope to hear from even more
people in the days ahead. The Dementia Information Day was a great initiative from Alex and we look forward to being involved in similar future events.’
Mark Watts – Chair Dementia Harborough
‘It’s been great to be able to work with Sarah and Mark to able to hold this day for the community. It’s highlighted the need for people to easily access information on what support is available to them in a single area and that people still want and enjoy a face to face conversation.
I would like to personally thank everyone who helped the day become a success through promoting and turning up.’
