The specialist care we provide at Bridgewater Home Care enables those with a life-limiting condition to continue leading a fulfilling and happy life, from the comfort of their own home. With the extra support from our Care Specialists, our clients are able to maintain their independence for as long as possible.

Motor neurone disease is a condition that affects the brain and nerves, and usually can get worse over time. Moving around, swallowing, and breathing become increasingly difficult, resulting in many needing long-term care and help with everyday tasks.

Early symptoms can include:

• Weakness in the ankle or leg – it becomes difficult to climb stairs and tripping becomes frequent
• Slurred speech, which may develop into difficulty swallowing some foods
• A weak grip – dropping things and finding it hard to carry out everyday tasks such as opening jars or doing up buttons
• Muscle cramps and twitches
• Weight loss – arms or leg muscles may become thinner over time

As the condition progresses and changes an individual’s mobility the symptoms can start to affect an individual’s independence and ability to carry out a variety of everyday tasks.

At Bridgewater Home Care we offer essential companionship, personal support and home help that is tailored around the requirements of the individual and symptoms of their condition. Our ethos at Bridgewater Home Care is to provide the highest quality care, always, to those living at home enabling them to live well, their way.

When living with MND it can often feel daunting and overwhelming when dealing with the changes that living with the condition can bring. Individuals can feel reluctant to ask for or accept help from family members, with a desire to maintain their own independence.

Our Care Specialists can offer friendly and practical help with everyday responsibilities. They provide emotional support as a companion and help overcome some of the obstacles that arise as symptoms of MND progress.

Whether a loved one could benefit with a helping hand around the house, or require specialist personal care, our Care Specialists are here to help:
